"Today, I get to share with you the visual companion piece to my new single, 'Grenade.' The song is about loving someone so deeply, and the pain of knowing that the person you love does not feel the same. The actions in this video serve as a metaphor, and should not be taken literally. I am aware of the power of visual media, and I encourage everyone who watches this video to understand that it is an artistic interpretation of the song, and not something to imitate." -- Bruno Mars

I love the music except the starting point of the lyrics which contains " a vulgar word", "f***ing". Overall it's a nice music.

I trully love Bruno's vocal especially from the frst two music videos above, "Just The Way You Are" and "Grenade". These two are my favourites.

Below are taken from a live session, "Grenade" which I enjoy watching. His vocal rocks even during live session! Great vocal!

My New Idol - Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars is my new idol for 2011. Heard a catchy song from the radio. I didn't know it was Bruno Mars when I heard it the first time. I was wondering who's this singer with a great vocal. I heard the song but never get to know the title or the singer. I totally have no idea who sang that melodious song with great vocal.

Until one day, I stick to the radio station and listen carefully what is the title and who the singer was. Finally I knew it's Bruno Mars. I fell in love with his voice the first time I heard it. There's something about his voice that I really like it but I'm not sure what is it. His vocal rocks!

Here's some facts about Bruno Mars obtained via wikipedia:

Bruno's Height: 165 cm – 5 ft 5 inches(same height as me)
Weight: 66 kg – 145 lb

Peter Gene Hernandez (born October 8, 1985), better known by his stage name Bruno Mars, is an American singer-songwriter and music producer. Raised in Honolulu, Hawaii by a family of musicians, Mars began making music at a young age. After performing in various musical venues in his hometown throughout his childhood, he decided to pursue a musical career and moved to Los Angeles after graduating from high school. Mars began producing songs for other artists, joining production team The Smeezingtons.

After an unsuccessful stint with Motown Records, Mars signed with Atlantic Records in 2009. He became recognized as a solo artist after lending his vocals and co-writing the hooks for the songs "Nothin' on You" by B.o.B, and "Billionaire" by Travie McCoy.

He also co-wrote the hits "Right Round" by Flo Rida featuring Kesha, "Wavin' Flag" by K'naan, and "Fuck You!" by Cee Lo Green.

In October 2010, he released his debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans. Anchored by the worldwide number one singles "Just the Way You Are" and "Grenade", the album peaked at number three on the Billboard 200. He was nominated for seven Grammys at the 53rd Grammy Awards, winning Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Just the Way You Are".

Mars' music is noted for displaying a wide variety of styles and influences, and contains elements of many different musical genres. He has worked with an assortment of artists from different genres; Mars acknowledges the influences that his collaborations have had on his own music.

As a child, he was highly influenced by artists such as Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson and would often impersonate these artists from a young age. Mars also incorporates reggae and Motown inspired sounds into his work. Jon Caramanica of The New York Times referred to Mars as "one of the most versatile and accessible singers in pop."

1985–2008: Early life and beginnings: Mars was born Peter Gene Hernandez and raised in the Waikiki neighborhood of Honolulu, Hawaii, by parents Bernadette "Bernie" and Pete Hernandez, of Filipino and Puerto Rican descent.

His mother emigrated to Hawaii from the Philippines as a child and his father moved to the island from Brooklyn, New York. Mars parents met while performing in a show, where his mother was a hula dancer and his father played percussion.

At the age of two, Mars was nicknamed "Bruno" by his father, because of his resemblance to chubby professional wrestler Bruno Sammartino. Mars was one of six children and came from a musical family who exposed him to a diverse mix of reggae, rock, hip hop, and R&B.

From a young age, he was impersonating and performing songs by artists such as Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, The Isley Brothers, and The Temptations.[6] At age four, Mars began performing five days a week with his family's band, The Love Notes, in which he became known on the island for his impersonation of Presley.

In 1990, Mars was featured in MidWeek as "Little Elvis", going on to have a cameo in the film Honeymoon in Vegas in 1992.[6][13] He later reflected on the influence Presley had on his music, saying, "I watch the best. I'm a big fan of Elvis. I'm a big fan of 1950s Elvis when he would go on stage and scare people because he was a force and girls would go nuts! You can say the same thing for Prince or The Police. It's just guys who know that people are here to see a show, so I watch those guys and I love studying them because I'm a fan."

In 2010, he also acknowledged his Hawaiian roots and musical family as an influence, saying, "Growing up in Hawaii made me the man I am. I used to do a lot of shows in Hawaii with my father's band. Everybody in my family sings, everyone plays instruments. My uncle's an incredible guitar player, my dad's an incredible percussionist, my brother's a great drummer, he actually plays in our band. I've just been surrounded by it.

In 2003, shortly after graduating from President Theodore Roosevelt High School at the age of seventeen, Mars moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue a musical career. He adopted his stage name from the nickname his father gave him, adding "Mars" at the end because "I felt like I didn't have [any] pizzazz, and a lot of girls say I’m out of this world, so I was like I guess I'm from Mars.

"

Shortly after moving to Los Angeles, Mars signed to Motown Records in 2004, in a deal that "went nowhere". However, Mars' experience with Motown proved to be beneficial to his career when he met songwriter and producer Philip Lawrence, who was also signed to the label. Mars, Lawrence, and engineer Ari Levine began writing songs together, and formed the production team The Smeezingtons.

In 2006, Lawrence introduced Mars to his future manager at Atlantic Records, Aaron Bay-Schuck. After hearing him play a couple of songs on the guitar, Bay-Schuck wanted to sign him immediately, but it took about three years for Atlantic records to finally sign Mars to the label.

In the meantime, Bay-Schuck hired Mars and the Smeezingtons to write and produce songs for the label's artists. According to Bay-Schuck in an interview with HitQuarters, Mars had stated that although his ultimate goal was to be a solo artist, he was willing to write and produce for other artists, both to help improve his songwriting and help him discover the type of artist he ultimately wanted to be. Bay-Schuck credits this as a period of "self-discovery" that contributed significantly to Mars' later success.

2009–present: Commercial success and Doo-Wops & Hooligans

Bruno Mars performing in Houston, Texas in November 2010.

Before becoming a successful solo artist, Hernandez was an acknowledged music producer, writing songs for Alexandra Burke, Travie McCoy, Adam Levine, Brandy, Sean Kingston, and Flo Rida.

He also co-wrote the Sugababes' hit song "Get Sexy" and provided backing vocals on their album Sweet 7. His first musical appearance as a singer was in Far East Movement's second studio album Animal, featured on the track "3D". He was also featured on pastor and hip hop artist Jaeson Ma's debut single "Love" in August 2009.

He reached prominence as a solo artist after being featured on and co-writing B.o.B's "Nothin' on You" and Travie McCoy's "Billionaire"; both songs peaked within the top ten of many charts worldwide.

He said of them, "I think those songs weren't meant to be full-sung songs. If I'd sung all of "Nothin' on You", it might've sounded like some '90s R&B."

Following this success, Mars released his debut extended play (EP), titled It's Better If You Don't Understand, on May 11, 2010. The EP peaked at the 99th position on the Billboard 200 and produced one single,

"The Other Side", featuring rappers Cee-Lo Green and B.o.B. Mars collaborated with Green once more in August 2010 by co-writing his single "Fuck You!". He performed a medley of "Nothin' on You" and "Airplanes" with B.o.B and Hayley Williams at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12, 2010.

Doo-Wops & Hooligans

Mars' debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, was released digitally on October 4, and saw its physical release on October 5, 2010. The lead single, "Just the Way You Are", was released on July 19, 2010, and has reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 as well as several other charts worldwide. The music video was released on September 8, 2010.

The second single, "Grenade", was released September 28, 2010, and has also seen successful international chart performance. In the United States, Doo-Wops & Hooligans debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 for the week of October 13, 2010, selling 55,000 copies. The album also received generally positive reviews from critics.

Entertainment Weekly's Leah Greenblatt praised Mars for his "instant-access melodies" and "sly snatches of dance-floor swagger", but noted weaknesses in songs deviant from his conventional pop and soul genres. He opened for Maroon 5 on the fall leg of the Hands All Over Tour starting October 6, 2010 and co-headlined with McCoy on a European tour starting October 18, 2010.

Bruno is a multi talented singer. My next entry, I'll include the 2 music videos that had reached millions of views from youtube. I don't own his album and I'll listen to his songs via youtube.

I'm Totally Pissed Off

It seems that yesterday is not my day. I felt that I was being played off by a recruitment firm. I'm totally pissed off.

Here's what happened. Last week, a consultant from a recruitment firm/agency called me up. It was said that she hed arranged for an interview with this "company". I'm not going to reveal the company's name. The scheduled interview shall be on 22nd March in the afternoon. She wants to confirmed if I'm available on that day. I agreed for the scheduled interview as I'm available on that day.

But, a few minutes later, she rang again. She said that the interview were changed to the 21st but the time shall be the same. I agreed with the date and time.

On the day itself which is yesterday, I prepared myself for the interview. I left the house but I felt uneasy, as if something's not right. I was feeling lazy unlike before where I'm enthusiast for any interview that's coming up. Perhaps this is a sign.

Took the train to get there. Upon alighting, I'm searching around for directions which links the location to the required "company". I'm not familiar with that place. I need to look carefully at the sign directions, which exit to follow. Either Exit A, B,C, etc... I finally get to the place for interview.

Upon reaching there, I need to make a call to the person in charge as mentioned in the letter I received via e-mail from the recruitment firm
"Search Network". The response from the person in charge totally pissed me off. It flares up my anger.

This is their response -

Ms M: ermmm, your name is not in our list for today but is scheduled for interview tomorrow.

Me: What? But I was told to come down today for the interview.

Ms M: Ermmm.. Maybe your agent had mixed up the dates..

Me: Is it possible to bring forward the interview now as I've already arrived and am waiting at the reception.

Ms M: I'm sorry but the interviewer is not here. Can you come down tomorrow?

Me: Tomorrow?(this time my anger emotions nearly showed up but I managed to control the tone of my voice)Errmmm. Ok I'll try.

Did you see the word that i used, "I'll try" to come? Well, if I used that word in a phone conversations, it means that I'll not be coming down for the interview today. Instead I'm using the time to pen down the incident that I've went through.

That's it!!! I've had it with recruitment firm especially with "Search Network"! They really played me out this time round. If there's any changes, as a consultant, they should informed me before hand.

They make me travel all the way and this is the kind of response that I get? It's not worth every minute of my time. They are simply wasting everyone's time. They kinda rushed me out for any job vacancies but in the end, they messed up everything.

Money is their only target. But the job that they have gotten me is totally dissappointing. I'm asking for a permanent placement but they keep giving me a temporary positions which only last for a week or two. I will not engaged in a recruitment firms if I can easily search the job on my own(based on easy accessible locations nearby trains stations, bus stops or nearby food court etc..). If this is the end result with a recruitment firms, I'd rather search a job on my own. Direct applications is better off than " job agencies". If everything requires me to do on my own research, I'll rather not engaged on them. Wasting my time!

Everything that I've been through yesterday incident was pen down here for the purpose that I shall not forget everything. An incident that spoilt my day and mood. It's totally not my day. I never regret not coming down for the interview today as it's only a temporary position. My heart is totally dissappointed with the attitude of the consultant. She should atleast re-confirmed with me for any last minute changes instead of keeping quiet and messed up everything.

That's my worst experience with Search Network, a recruitment firm which frequently advertised their job openings in Jobstreet and JobsDB websites. I've lost my trust in Search Network. I'm not going to apply for their advertisements in the future. The company is not to be blame but the consultants itself should be more responsible! I've had enough of it!

I'm ending the entry for now. I'm totally not in a mood :( Thanks to Search Network!

PS: Yesterday is totally not my day :(

Restless

I'm feeling so restless. I was hoping that throughout my previous job applications, I could atleast get a respond from any one of them. Through hundred's over applications, seems like none of them even bothered to reply to my applications. Only a few did but majority are from recruitment firms. Direct employment is better than "recruitment firm".

I just don't know where else to search. I've looked into newspapers and even online job advertisements. Some locations are way to far from my home. My mind was in a total blank. Every second I keep thinking about the "responses". I had a sleepless night thinking throughout.

Too much stress had resulted me in having an acne breakout which refuse to fade away. All those scars as a result from the multipying acne totally scares me off. Sometimes, I feels embarrassed to leave the house in this kind of conditions. I had an acne breakout for the first time in March this year and it's the first time in my life. I'm totally restless.

Not Feeling Good

It's already the 17th day of March. How fast time had past. I wasn't feeling so well lately. Flu on and off. Looks like I have a weaker immune system throughout this year. Feeling weak easily. Hoping to get well soon.

Throughout this year, it could be said that I've been ignoring my facebook account. I just couldn't be bothered to sign in to it. I will only check for notifications if I happen to log into FB. That's the only thing that I'll do. After checking, I'll straight away log out.

I thought of deleting my FB account but it's the only way for me to keep in touch with previous classmates or friends. I've decided that I shall not delete the account but shall let it remain for the purpose of connection with friends. Shall just abandon it more often.

I shall end my entry for now. Till the next time.

P.S.: This shall be my shortest entry.

Hair Loss & Hair Colouring

After nearly 1 1/2 years, I finally coloured my hair once again. Like Finally... I've been wanting to colour my hair ever since but I had to postpone it because previously, I'm undergoing hair loss treatment. I was advised to stop hair colouring for the time being until my scalp is healthy.

Frequent hair dyed/colouring causes hair loss. For my case, frequent hair dye is the cause. I love to change my hair colour a few times a year or rather once in every three to 4 months.(I'll not do that again!) Everything is done "DIY" at home. Yup, self dyed my hair. But now, I've stop doing that. I decided to get colouring done at salon instead. As we know, healthy and balance diet can prevent hair loss.

I'll include some of the factors which leads to hair loss. Info obtained from http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/men/general/081.html

Hair Loss and Its Causes
What is the normal cycle of hair growth and loss?
The normal cycle of hair growth lasts for 2 to 3 years. Each hair grows approximately 1 centimeter per month during this phase. About 90 percent of the hair on your scalp is growing at any one time. About 10 percent of the hair on your scalp, at any one time, is in a resting phase. After 3 to 4 months, the resting hair falls out and new hair starts to grow in its place.

It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of this cycle. However, some people may experience excessive (more than normal) hair loss. Hair loss of this type can affect men, women and children.

Can certain hairstyles or treatments cause hair loss?
Yes. If you wear pigtails or cornrows or use tight hair rollers, the pull on your hair can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia (say: “al-oh-pee-sha”). If the pulling is stopped before scarring of the scalp develops, your hair will grow back normally. However, scarring can cause permanent hair loss. Hot oil hair treatments or chemicals used in permanents (also called "perms") may cause inflammation (swelling) of the hair follicle, which can result in scarring and hair loss

What is common baldness?
"Common baldness" usually means male-pattern baldness, or permanent-pattern baldness. It is also called androgenetic alopecia. Male-pattern baldness is the most common cause of hair loss in men. Men who have this type of hair loss usually have inherited the trait. Men who start losing their hair at an early age tend to develop more extensive baldness. In male-pattern baldness, hair loss typically results in a receding hair line and baldness on the top of the head.

Women may develop female-pattern baldness. In this form of hair loss, the hair can become thin over the entire scalp.

Is there any treatment for hair loss?
Depending on your type of hair loss, treatments are available. If a medicine is causing your hair loss, your doctor may be able to prescribe a different medicine. Recognizing and treating an infection may help stop the hair loss. Correcting a hormone imbalance may prevent further hair loss.

Medicines may also help slow or prevent the development of common baldness. One medicine, minoxidil (brand name: Rogaine), is available without a prescription. It is applied to the scalp. Both men and women can use it. Another medicine, finasteride, is available with a prescription. It comes in pills and is only for men. It may take up to 6 months before you can tell if one of these medicines is working.

If adequate treatment is not available for your type of hair loss, you may consider trying different hairstyles or wigs, hairpieces, hair weaves or artificial hair replacement.

Info below obtained from http://www.ehow.com/how_2343_avoid-hair-loss.html

How to Avoid Hair Loss
1. Wash your hair regularly in warm water and use a deep conditioner.
2. Eat a balanced diet. Nutritional deficiencies, eating disorders and excessive amounts of certain vitamins, such as A and E, can cause hair loss.
3. Take care of your health. Chronic illness, high fevers and infections can contribute to hair loss.
4. Stay away from harsh chemicals - permanent hair color and perms are the most damaging - and avoid coloring your hair more than once every six to eight weeks.
5. Avoid hairstyles like ponytails and cornrows, which stretch and pull hair.
6. Keep in mind that it's normal to lose between 50 and 100 hairs a day.
7. Consult your general physician or dermatologist regarding concerns about hair loss.

Info below obtained from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hair_coloring

Adverse effects of hair coloring
Hair coloring involves the use of chemicals capable of removing, replacing and/or covering up pigments naturally found inside the hair shaft. Use of these chemicals can result in a range of adverse effects, including temporary skin irritation and allergy, hair breakage, skin discoloration and unexpected hair color results. Additionally, there is ongoing debate regarding more serious health consequences of hair color usage, including lead poisoning.

Skin irritation and allergy. In certain individuals, the use of hair coloring can result in allergic reaction and/or skin irritation.

Symptoms of these reactions can include redness, sores, itching, burning sensation and discomfort. If any of these symptoms occur, alert your hair colorist immediately so that they can remove the color. Symptoms will not always be present right at the application and processing of the tint but can also arise after hours or even a day.

To help prevent or limit allergic reactions, the majority of hair color products recommend that the client conduct a patch test before using the product. This involves mixing a small quantity of tint preparation and applying it directly to the skin for a period of 48 hours. If irritation develops, manufacturers recommend that the client not use the product. A skin patch test is advised before the use of every coloring process, since allergies can develop even after years of use with no reaction.

Adverse reactions can result from both at-home and salon hair coloring products, as similar chemicals are used in both settings.

In some cases, allergic reactions are caused by the aniline derivative and/or p-phenylenediamine (PPD) found in permanent hair color.

In some cases, if itching, burning sensation or discomfort occur and one does not alert the hair colorist immediately, it could result in hair loss.

Hair breakage
Hair that has been damaged by excessive exposure to chemicals is considered over-processed. This results in dry, rough and fragile hair. In extreme cases, the hair can be so damaged that it breaks off entirely. This is especially true for Afro-Caribbean hair, especially if used in combination with relaxers. Treatments are available but the only real solution is to stop the use of chemicals until new hair grows and the damaged hair is cut off.

It is advised that colored hair be deep conditioned regularly, and washed and conditioned with gentle products specifically designed for color-treated hair. This will help keep the hair intact and minimize color fading.

I still love hair colouring but I shall not do it often. Probably once or twice a year. I'll end my entry for now. Till the next time.

My Worries

March is already here & it's already the second day of the new month. Starting the new month with worries. I'm having a breakouts and it seems not good. When is it goina end? I never had a breakout like this. One breakout after the other. This is my first time. That's what worries me the most. Will the scar disappear? That's the question that had been playing in my mind all this days.

I can't sleep for 2 days and this is the outcome. Acne starting to multiply. Totally scares me off.
